Board Goals

Board Mission Statement and Goals

MISSIONSTATEMENT

The mission of the Fairfield Community School Board of Directors is to support students, staff, administrative team and teachers of the Fairfield Community School District in preparing all students to be life-long learners through participation in a comprehensive educational program characterized by mutual respect, pursuit of excellence, personalized instruction, a challenging and  diverse curriculum and a safe, healthy environment.

The Board of Directors produced the following goals and key indicators to help guide their work during the 2008-2009 school year:

  1. To increase student achievement and performance by fostering a strong Fairfield professional learning community.  We will accomplish the following through active listening and learning:
    1. Engage administrative team in a Professional Learning Community retreat by Sept 30, 2008.
    2. Conduct quarterly Board/Community dialogue beginning October 31, 2008.
    3. Collaborate with faculty and the Fairfield’s Future Committee in the development of a written vision statement for the district’s Professional Learning Community.
    4. Implement a Professional Learning Community Communication Plan by spring, 2009.
    5. Conduct a Board and superintendent assessment of our Professional Learning Community progress by August, 2009.
  2. To implement the District’s facilities improvement plan by engaging the community in the development of
    1. High School recommendation by the timeline proposed in the present Shive-Hattery/Learning Community timeline.
    2. K-8 HAVC recommendation.

We will accomplish the above through bimonthly committee meetings, architect reports, and a facilities communication plan.
