Attempted Abduction from the Pence School Area - August 18, 2008
On August 16, 2008, at approximately 8:44 p.m., a black male driving a white van ordered an 11 year old girl into his van. The young girl was playing with other children on the south side of Pence School. The girl walked east on Filmore and turned north on 5th Street. The white van came from the Middle School area and tried to get the girl into the van at 5th Street and Taylor.
The black male was described to be in his 20’s, wearing braids or corn rows, and wearing a dew rag.
Parents are asked to speak with their children about stranger danger and to advise them NEVER to get into a stranger’s vehicle. Parents should set up pre-determined safe houses or open public places so the children will know to go for help. These incidents should be reported immediately to the Police Department.
Anyone in the area who may have seen the van is asked to contact the Fairfield Police Department at 472-4146. People living in the vicinity of schools are asked to watch for the van and obtain a license plate number if possible.
